Throughout this article, we'll refer to an integration by its more common name "third party integration". What is a third party  integration? A third party integration is an additional piece of software, which adds additional value, that is external to the primary system in consideration. A third party integration is typically a set of functions that are useful to a wide variety of people, such that you use the same code many times and do not end up re-inventing the wheel.

There are literally thousands upon thousands of third party integrations that can perform nearly any business function, no matter how obscure (kind of like "there's an app for that!").
